To me, the first step in effective event planning is not to decide immediately what format the event should take, but to understand what the client hopes to achieve through it.

Different brands, products and stages of development come with different needs. Some clients aim to increase brand exposure, while others want to drive membership registrations or app downloads. Some seek to generate enquiries, encourage product trials or improve sales conversion, while others hope to build a clearer and more distinctive brand image through the event. When the objectives are different, the planning approach must also be different.
